Rock Painting

Yes, it’s been a while since I have posted. Life has kept me on a rollercoaster.

A few years back my oldest grand & I started painting rocks. She loves hiding them & is still super excited about finding them.

Here are a few pictures of what we have done.

I created a page to track our rocks. We have left them in Kansas, Oklahoma & Texas. Plus we have had friends take them when they have traveled on vacation to other states … sadly we haven’t see a lot of those listed on our page. You can check it out at East Side Rocks

We general find rocks to paint but have purchased several bags as well. We rinse the rocks off & let dry. Then we either free hand paint, or use a pencil to draw the design we want. We start with one color, and paint several rocks in that same design. This allows others to dry as we keep painting. Once we have finished with the color, we either start with the 1st rock we painted or we allow them to dry. There are times when we are doing this, we do several designs. When we work our way though the colors we want to use, allowing the rock to dry before adding the next color to it.

Once the rock is fully painted & completely dry, we coat it with Mod Podge. This allows the paint to be sealed to the rock & not chip off. Plus this also allows us to put the paper tag that gives our FB page. We allow them to dry about 72 hours before we hide them.

When hiding the rocks, you want some out but others can be hidden. This make is a little fun for those looking, plus you will find that GeoCachers will find the hidden ones.

The best thing about these rocks … they are fun, easy & relaxing to create!!!!

I hope you all have found a way to enough your summer. I hope to be able to post more over the next weeks.
